No public institution or official should be victimized in any way for engaging in any lawful dealings with other organizations, including the awarding of tenders within the law, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) said in a statement. “Pursuant to its advisory mandate, the EACC wishes to inform Kenyans that public procurement in Kenya is governed by the law, and for that reason, no public institution or public official should be victimized in any way,” the EACC said. Pai Kuria’s verbal attack on the news organization and its government clients was denounced by the commission along with other organizations.

Criticism of the media and sarcastic language

According to Oduor, “His reactions to media reports regarding one of the numerous scandals that have rocked the Kenya Kwanza administration in a span of 10 months are an embarrassment to Kenyans, but a confirmation that his stomach is full and he can belch and eventually vomit on the choice of hungry Kenyans with impunity.” Kuria was criticized for his views by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK), which claimed they jeopardized press freedom.
