Reasons for the Scholarship Programme.

Across the globe, women remain significantly underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Data from UNESCO reveals that less than 30% of researchers are women, and this trend continues in higher education, where only 30% of female students opt for STEM-related fields. This disparity is particularly stark in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), natural sciences, mathematics and statistics, and engineering, manufacturing and construction, where female student enrollment falls below 10%.

Eligibility for the British Council Women STEM Scholarship.

The British Council Women in STEM Scholarship seeks passionate women with a strong foundation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to pursue a Master’s degree at a prestigious UK university. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

•  Academic Background: Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies them for pre-selected postgraduate courses in STEM fields offered by partner universities.
• Financial Need: Demonstrate a clear financial need that necessitates scholarship support
•  English Proficiency: Possess the required level of English language skills for postgraduate study in the UK.
• STEM Experience & Interest: Have demonstrable experience or a proven passion for their chosen STEM field, potentially through work experience or relevant activities.
• Academic Passion & Commitment: Exhibit a strong enthusiasm for their chosen course of study and a willingness to actively participate as a committed British Council scholarship alumna.
